Daughters of the King (DOK) is an order of women who have undertaken to follow a Rule of Life, which includes a Rule of Prayer and a Rule of Service. It was founded in 1885.
DOK has been at Mediator since April 30, 2000. Mediator's chapter is "Sarah's Circle," a name derived from the Biblical character and our parish's preference for non-hierarchical organization.
The 14 members of Sarah's Circle meet every second and fourth Sunday. Meetings are informal and last a maximum of one hour. DOK is open to any woman who is a confirmed Episcopalian and who wishes to devote her life to Christ. New members start with a three-month study program, and then take lifelong vows before the congregation. They model their lives to reflect their vows.

Prayer of the Chalice
Father, to Thee I raise my whole being,
a vessel emptied of self.
Accept, O Lord, this my emptiness,
and so fill me with Thyself --
Thy Light, Thy Love, Thy Life --
that these Thy precious gifts
may radiate through me
and overflow
the chalice of my heart
into the hearts of all with whom
I come into contact
this day,
revealing unto them
the beauty of Thy joy
and wholeness,
and the serenity
of Thy Peace,
which nothing
can destroy.
